About Versot

Versot is a study-association meant for all sociology students and employees of the department of sociology at Tilburg University. The goals Versot has set for itself are twofold:
Firstly, the creation of an environment where sociology students can get to know each other through both formal and informal activities (see below). Secondly, but equally important, is that Versot provides students with opportunities to discover the field of sociology in all its forms.

To achieve these goals, Versot organizes a range of activities. The formal activities include for example lectures, visits to companies and symposia. For instance, Versot hosts an annual evening where professionals, who graduated in sociology, talk about their occupations and the course of their careers (‘Beroepenavond’ in Dutch). Informal activities include dinners, drinks and games. At the beginning of each year we introduce new sociology students to the University and Versot itself by organizing an introductory camp, where the new students can get to know eachother and the people who have already been studying sociology for a few years. Every year Versot also embarks on a trip to a city abroad to discover and explore other cultures.

The board of Versot in 2018-2019 consists out of four enthusiastic sociology students.
This year’s chairman is Lisa Moonen, the secretary is Luanne Dussel, the treasurer is Maria Terpstra and the pr-functionary and vice chairman is Tim Paulusse. For contact information see ‘contact’ on this site.

To make the activities that are mentioned above possible, Versot has several committees. As a Versotmember, you can take place in one or more of these committees. However, it is not obliged to do so. The same thing goes for presence at the activities that are being held: as a member you are completely free in whether you want to take part in activities and/or committees.

As a member, you can order books for a substantial lower price than when you are not a member. This can add up to twenty-five percent of the original book-price.
If you have any questions, or if you would like to become a member, you can visit us at building P (room P0.9a) to subscribe, or you can send an e-mail to info@versot.nl. You are free to visit!
